LUMPENPROLETARIAT-—[19 JAN 2021]  Tomorrow is Inauguration Day in the USA.  We are all so proud to be American, aren’t we?  Days like today usually conjure up images of prosperity, symbolized by Fourth of July BBQ vibes, bourgeois lifted trucks, tailgate parties, and bro country music.  At least that’s the dominant narrative we’re supplied via the dominant media channels. But America doesn’t really watch “TV” anymore.  Does it?  There is no collective American narrative anymore.  Is there?  When states start becoming fascist, the gaslighting really gets severe.

As we ran a few unavoidable errands this weekend, we saw business as usual everywhere.  Our American neighbors seem politically oblivious, we lament to say, going about their business unaware or unconcerned with the ongoing assaults on our democracy by antidemocratic domestic enemies of the American people.  Only the extremists and the devout seemed concerned with the state of the nation.  At a red light, we saw one very dignified black man dressed in grey slacks and a tan Merino waffle-knit sweater with a small golden crucifix on a gold chain.  Usually, we mostly see apolitical Latinos and pro-Trump white folks where we live.  So, it was quite a sight to see such a dignified black man, middle-aged, clutching a bible, orating at a busy intersection corner, seemingly words of faith and reason in a time of neocivil war, antidemocratic policies coming from both wings of our corporatist two-party system.  No, let’s not mince words.  We’ve been paying attention for a long time.  Ralph Nader was correct when he responded to my former colleague Abby’s million-dollar question:  Is our so-called democracy rigged?  Yeah!  Through and through, he said, right down to the presidential debates, which are staged political theater.  It’s a two-party dictatorship.  Who, among us, can say they have more political experience than someone, like Nader or Chomsky.  Ought we not heed the words of our elders?  It seems, we Americans choose hedonism over reasoned public discourse.  Alexa O’Brien was not only correct, she was prophetic:  The culture wars are over. EVERYONE LOST.

This morning our Washington, D.C. capitol looks like pre-1989 Berlin, according to video footage published by investigative journalist Max Blumenthal at The Grayzone.  But liberals are celebrating, conservatives are probably not.  Anarchists yawn.  But we would venture to guess that the left, generally, is far too concerned with the threat of police state fascism to be in a celebratory mood.  That is, the real left, all American political parties to the left of the Democrat Party, which is technically centrist, center-right, and right-wing, depending on the given faction.

America, when will you be angelic?

So, what’s been going on, ladies and gentlemen?  Hay you all been glued to the news all weekend?  Or did you unplug and take a media detox break, like me?  I can’t blame you, either way.  I had to unplug myself from the news of the day and focus on my family duties at home, not just for their sake.

But democracy is gasping.  We gotta pay attention.  So, I implore you to take notes, to pay attention to what’s going on.  Please think of the wellbeing of others outside of your grouping(s).  Please try to expand your circles of concern and circles of trust.  Let’s build relationships with our neighbors, even if we suspect we dislike their politics.  Let’s consider what Jaques Derrida referred to as The Politics of Friendship.  Deliberative processes will always fail to produce harmony, if fueled by adversarial sentiments.

Let’s find out what’s going on out there today.

As we listen to Amy Goodman deliver some of today’s news headlines, 5his all feels like one big psy op. Even DN!fails.  In one segment today, the reported about the “radicalization of police”, now that white people can no longer deny the toxicity at the core of American policing.  The real issue is the politicization of cops.  Why do cops even have any ideology at all.  Individual cops have free speech.  But the institution of policing, if it expects any legitimacy at all, must never appear to favor any political ideology over any other.  The moment the leaders of American policing tolerated  and/or enabled white supremacist ideologies is the day…

08:00 – 09:00 PST, KPFK > Democracy Now! > [TP] > Announcer says one radio program will have a name change from Trump Watch to—wait for it——not Biden Watch.  Instead, the happy liberals will rename their show to Living In America.  Oh, jeez.  I guess before we were on high alert because we recognized Trump’s corruption.  But, now, we’re on cruise control because we cannot perceive Biden’s. Oy vey.

1400 pst wbai > 1427 on the rise of American political violence. Dropkick Murphys – “,Which side are you on?” […] Barbara Lubin(?), et al engage in a conversation about representation and inclusion.  Some brown (i.e., “Latino”) liberals, Puerto Ricans, maybe, talked about the “militancy” and determination it took for the first- and second-generation Puerto Ricans to fight for “ethnic studies”, or social representation in academia and society, at large.  The brown folks seemed a little too giddy in their celebration of the past accomplishments of the 1960s generation.  Fortunately, good old Barbara Lubin (or someone, who sounds a lot like her) urged the panel to not romanticize anything because ‘we are still, basically, in the same position as far as socioeconomic justice.

15:00 PST, WPFW > […] > 15:09 PST, “Move” by Ludacris.  “So, how are y’all celebratin’?” asked the giddy, black-sounding young lady hosting the show.  Damn, girl.  I wish I could share in your joy.  But I got the COVID-1984 blues.  She doesn’t, though.  Surely, she’s read Orwell.  Right?  “I’m just ecstatic,” she continued.  “It’s like when you’re finally free from college, and you get your diploma, and you leave.  And they can’t tell you what to do!”  Or if you are not celebrating, why not?  Call in.  On-The-Air Studio:
(202) 588-0893 […] 15:25 PST, Well, she said call in, so I called in.  I hope I didn’t embarrass anyone.  All I can do is be me, y’all.  […]  15:46 PST, her name is Sierra Shine, I think she said.  I want to change the channel, but I am super feeling her energy right now.  It’s just nice to find like-minded people.  I can always be myself around people of color.  That’s not always the case with white folks, or corporatist folks for that matter.  But I bet, if we continue the conversation, she voted Democrat.  This election cycle was so bad, though, I can’t say I blame her.  Even the Revolutionary Communist Party was endorsing Biden 2020, just out of sheer desperation to avert a possible fascist coup by president #45. […]  15:57 PST, “pick up your feelings”.  Yes, indeed.  That was a real nice R&B song clip.  Yes, indeed.  We gotta pick up our feelings. I’m reminded of a lecture with Elaine Brown of the Black Panthers, where she said one lesson, or regret, was that the Panthers never stopped to take a break.  There’s only so much one’s nervous system can take.  We gotta give ourselves some time for ourselves to heal, to re-energize, to stay strong for the long haul.

16:00 PST, WPFW > We Only Want the World with Sunsara Taylor. [TW]  Sunsara Taylor makes a lot of sense.  My only issue with her rhetoric is the obeisant references to RCP boss/leader Bob Avakian, which smack of cult of personality psychology.  Other than that, the analysis is usually spot on. […]  This particular broadcast is a rerun, which we heard last week.  I believe this was a livestream because I got a notification via a YouTube channel.

17:00 PST, KPFK > […] 17:10 PST, [TP] talk. Ian Masters(?)  […] Guest lady mentioned, passingly, that ‘Biden will be pulled to the left by his colleagues, who feel Biden has not been progressive enough.’  For what?  For maintaining the status quo?  For sincere socioeconomic justice?  Biden might be pulled leftward. But it’s naive to think Biden will ever position himself left-of-center.  Not even Bernie Sanders is left-of-center anymore, which is the only reason Biden gave him a cabinet position.  Karen Holt, professor… 17:19 PST, up next Giuliani peddling presidential pardons at $2M a pop.  This may remind us of Tom Hartman’s broadcast early this morning. […] Harry Lippman(sp?),prof and podcast host. 17:24 PST, midnight pardons, eg, one crook who bilked the needy was pardoned. But also Jack Johnson was pardoned. […]  ‘like the selling of the indulgences’.  There is a normal process, but this is mowing the process down, favoring the wealthy. This turns Giuliani into Mr. Money Bags.

18:00 – 19:00 PST, KPFA [Berkeley, CA] & KPFK [L.A.] (simulcast) > Pacifica Evening News > 18:37 PST,  ‘U.S. may run out of vaccines by Thursday.’  This news comes, as we heard news reports today that the wealthy individuals and the wealthy nations of the world have been hoarding vaccine supplies, with little to no regard for the most needy. […]  U.K. faces new lockdowns, as covid mutates in defiance of vaccination efforts.  What’s most interesting to me is how the scientific literature and experts point to the immune system as the best defense against all coronoviruses.  And, particularly Dr. Bikman (Why We Get Sick), et al., also point to insulin response, or insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity, as crucial to a healthy immune system through the gut microbiome and the brain-gut connection.  But nobody seems to be informing the public about this.  Gary Null is one exception.
