LUMPENPROLETARIAT—[Friday, 22 APR 2022]  Here are some of today’s media notes to help us track and make sense of this plandemic dystopia we all find ourselves living through in the 2020s.  (Please see below, after this commentary and after today’s salient observations, for samples of today’s news cycle.).  As Kurt Vile said in his recent Rolling Stone interview, when asked about his music’s ‘slacker’ vibe, ‘the world is a scary place. It’s nice to take the edge off once in a while…’  Like Lenny Kravitz sang decades ago, our society is “living in fear.”  (Please find other salient observations below.)

Universities and colleges have been under lockdown, but not because of COVID-19 hysteria.  Somehow, the madness of the false COVID-19 narrative is now becoming normalized as even otherwise critical thinkers, lose their capacity for critical thinking when it comes to COVID-19.  For example, Abby Martin is on record saying on her podcast, Media Roots Radio, that the cytotoxic COVID-19 injectable drug products are “safe and effective.”  Now, we have an apparent trend of death threats and alleged shooter threats being reported.  This week, we learned of news reports about UC Berkeley being locked down due to ‘credible threats’ from a person, who had threatened to harm specific persons on campus.  Then, we have all this warmongering and fearmongering against Russia in order to provoke war.  I don’t believe the people want to provoke war.  But many people are being manipulated by the state’s desire for war as an economic imperative of the war economy and the military-industrial complex.  That’s the liberal (i.e., pro-capitalist or non-anti-capitalist) capacity for self-deception.  Then, we have all the COVID-19 fearmongering.  Then, there’s also racial/ethnic strife.  And we haven’t even mentioned the climate crisis.

“In these last days, lend ears to what I say / Man, in his ignorant state, has signed and sealed his own fate…”

And that’s just a brief sketch of the general description of the state of things.  But what about the prescription?  What should we do?  Seek solutions.  Form groups.  Take action.  Learn from experience and grow.  Avoid repeating mistakes of the past.  This sounds simple.  But people, who support the Democrat Party, or the Republican Party, for that matter, do not seem to realize those two political parties are perpetually inimical to working class interests.  Yet, liberals (i.e., pro-capitalists or non-anti-capitalists) and conservatives (i.e., pro-capitalists or non-anti-capitalists), for the most part, continue supporting this political cartel by going back and forth between the two. Even worse, most people seem to turn their backs on politics. But, as Ralph Nader often says, if you turn your back on politics, politics will turn on you. Indeed, sooner or later the militarized thugs will come for us all, if we think we can remain neutral. Some call themselves “independent”, or politically homeless.  Nowadays, we hear people talk about being ‘independent voters’, as if any viable third party alternatives exist, which would allow such a label to have any meaning.  An ‘independent voter’ in today’s context is one, who has accepted the two-party dictatorship, and is content being marginalized in the Green Party or other smaller parties, or who is content voting for the least worst option from the corporate choices.  Without a meaningful opposition party, a political party, which can debate Democrats and Republicans, how can the working class wield political power?  If even Pacifica Radio shepherds their herd toward the corporate Democrat Party through the overarching narrative of their editorial direction, which has sold out the working class for decades, especially in the news departments, then Pacifica Radio is no better than any other establishment institution.   The Pacifica Mission Statement is a social mission, not a “media mission” (as KPFA’s Christina Aanestad has been trying to spin it lately, gaslighting listeners).  As participants, listeners or staffers (paid or unpaid), we cannot fulfill the Pacifica Mission Statement, if we continue to allow dishonesty and gaslighting on the air, especially on the newscasts

OTHER SALIENT OBSERVATIONS:

• Kathryn Davis on WBAI this morning gave us an update on the status of Bonnie Faulkner and her program Guns and Butter. (See notes below for the Heart of Mind (WBAI) broadcast
• According to a fellow worker, Kurt Vile has granted Rolling Stone an interview on musicianship, The War On Drugs, how “It’s hard to blow everyone’s minds”, Neil Young (no mention of Young selling out to oppose Joe Rogan‘s First Amendment rights), the basics of finger-picking (‘start with the thumb on bass, going back and forth, then you can add one finger, and go from there…’), his working class jobs “unloading tractor trailers”, “ball-busting accents directed at me”, going to only one semester of college, then going back to working class life on a forklife (of which your author has plenty of experience), working with Courtney Barnett, his love of RZA, ODB, and Wu-Tang Clan music, smoking and going on stage with Bob Dylan, and more. ‘Things can get lost in the feed…  Back then you had something physical you could keep…’  Kurt Vile and his friend, Adam (from War On Drugs), seem like righteous souls.  (cf. “Kurt Vile: The Rolling Stone Interview”, Music Now podcast)

When I first clicked on the archive listing for Friday, 22 APR 2022, a red lock symbol appeared, but I continued clicking on it until it opened. That was odd. If you follow @LumpenProles on Twitter, or are a regular reader of Lumpenproletariat, or any other critical observer, than you will already know John Mearsheimer is a highly respected historian. So, of course, he gets censored off of Pacifica Radio. What is really going on here?

The US government does not need to borrow US dollars, for it is the sovereign currency issuer of the US dollar. (cf. Stephanie Kelton, L. Randall Wray, MMT, etc.) Prof. Wolff knows and understands MMT (modern monetary theory). He visited the University of Missouri Kansas City Economics Department, my alma mater. So, he knows the US government doesn’t need to borrow dollars it creates out of thin air. But I suspect Prof. Wolff’s ideology leads him to pretend in public, as if MMT does not explain how our modern monetary system functions. NOTES (re: News for 22 APR 2022): The so-called Pacifica Evening News is a liberal (i.e., pro-capitalist or non-anti-capitalist) newscast, which always parrots establishment talking points on COVID-19, US/NATO imperialism, and Democrat Party apologia. KPFA news bosses pretentiously rebranded the KPFA Evening News as the Pacifica Evening News, as if it were a network-wide collaboration, rather than the product of an insular faction at KPFA. In fact, one cannot even call the KPFA Evening News such a title because it implies it’s a product of the whole of KPFA, rather than an insular faction within KPFA, which is hostile to grassroots activists outside of their patronage system. For example, circa 2007, I followed all established protocols, emailed Mark Mericle, etcetera for admittance into KPFA’s News Training Program. But because I had been seen as critical of the KPFA Local Station Board elections as an assistant to the Local Station Board LES (Local Election Supervisor), I was quickly blacklisted by the Mark Mericle/Aileen Alfandary/Sasha Lilley (former interim program manager)/Brian Edwards-Tiekert/et al faction. This is not a bitter rant, but a testimony of truth, so that we understand reality. After 20 years of observing KPFA, first uncritically, then critically, now the liberal Wellstone Democrat patronage system has come into sharp focus. So, yeah, despite all of that, despite being smeared and personally attacked, and having the cops called on me, like the pro-Democrat faction did against KPFA staffer Nadra Foster for letting her daughter photocopy some coloring book pages. The cops beat the shit out of Ms. Foster. That would have happened to me when Sasha Lilley gaslighted the entire KPFA staff making up false accusations about me just because I had asked too many questions around the Local Station Board and their public. There is a video somewhere of Kris Welch acting foul in the abusive treatment of Ms. Foster, swatting away someone’s camera to censor, not promote the free flow of information nor to increase transparency. As long as one understands the liberals in Mark Mericle’s faction within the Pacifica Radio patronage system of courtiers and gatekeepers are lying when they talk about any of the aforementioned key issues. As Lewis Lapham said about The New York Times, ‘I still read it,’ he said. ‘I just know they’re lying to me when I do.’ Back in the 1990s, when Nicole Sawaya was KPFA’s manager, before the 1999 KPFA Lockouts, there was a monthly program called “The Managers Report to the Listeners.” I used to listen and sometimes call in. If it were still around, we could publicly expose KPFA’s news bosses, Mark Mericle and Aileen Alfandary for misreporting on COVID-19, for example uncritically citing establishment statistics, focusing on “cases”, which may be false-positive PCR test results, rather than hospitalizations. Another lie by omission, is reporting COVID-19 hospitalizations without reporting on the neoliberal reduction of hospital beds in the years and decades leading up to March 2020. Another lie by omission of this newscast, and other establishment newscasts, is the lack of reporting on the problems with the PCR test, the fact that its inventor Dr. Kary Mullis, never intended the PCR test to be a diagnostic test. Another lie by omission of this newscast is the refusal to report on VAERS data or the tens of thousands of people, who have died after being injected with the cytotoxic experimental COVID-19 injectable drug products. There is so much more I could list, which is being omitted by the liberals, who have captured KPFA’s News Department. Where is Wendell Harper when you need him? KPFA used to have honest people on the air. Your author still listens to this nightly newscast because it’s better than nothing. If you’re a long-time Pacifica Radio listener, you may recall when Free Speech Radio News (FSRN) was the best newscast around:

The strikers said management was censoring coverage of internal politics at the flagship community radio organization. Independent radio stations across the country supported the strike by airing the newscast.
